I told you my online Loft class, Entering the Flow, was scheduled to start yesterday, September 19, 2011, but I was mistaken. The class actually starts next Monday, September 26.
This means you still have time to register!
You can still join us as we explore how to enter the flow state — you know, that blissful, half-dreamy place where you know exactly what to write and the scenes unfold in your imagination in that magical way that makes creating fiction and CNF so exciting.
We’ll practice Robert Olen Butler’s method of “dreamstorming” to use the flow state in a way that combines the spontaneous creativity and thrill of “seat-of-the-pants, write-in-the-moment writing” with the advantages of knowing where your story is going before you draft yourself into a corner you can’t write your way out of. (Previous posts on the advantages and disadvantages of drafting vs. outlining.)
Of course, with an online class you have flexibility about when you show up to read the class topics, participate in the discussion forums and do the writing exercises (though I do hope all students can and will “attend” our online chats at the same time). But if you’ve been thinking “I want to check out Rosanne’s online class” for awhile now and then had that sick feeling of “I can’t believe I missed that opportunity,” you’ve got a second chance!
I’ve enriched the class with extras we don’t usually have time for in the in-person version of this class, and I’m really looking forward to teaching online! The last I heard there are 9 students registered and room for up to 7 more.
